The Gambling Den
Dice, airplane tickets, and the Flower that becomes a Wrench — play it on patch 1.06 or newer.
The Gambling Den sits next to The Office on the Chapter I Green Hills spoke. It is the dice floor behind the Credibility / reassessment gate — not a separate overworld icon. Players come here for Against All Odds, Malia’s airplane tickets, and the Transparent Mug → Flower → Wrench → Core Key chain.
AndyLand chased dice-room crashes from 1.01 through 1.06. 1.07 fixed a rare teleport to the Gambling Den elevator when a walking NPC blocked you. Run this area on 1.08 (current Steam tip) even though 1.08 itself is mostly Misery Town / Camera polish.
How to Reach the Den
- Recover Mouth in the Office spoke (spell Help Me Talk)
- Pass the personality survey and enter the Office building
- Complete every workstation call — tables on Office Phone Calls
- Ride the elevator and request reassessment with money-first answers:
- You need money
- A million dollars
- No weaknesses
- Lie about experience
- As company boss
- Exit the elevator onto the gambling floor
- Immediately pick up the Transparent Mug on the floor to the right
If dialogue choices look wrong or missing, you are on a pre-1.07 build.
Against All Odds
Steam achievement: beat all three dice gamblers (~31% at launch).
| Gambler | Notes |
|---|---|
| Green Boss | First table — learn the timing |
| Baby Man | Middle opponent |
| Copy Printer | Last table; finish all three on the same visit if you can |
This is a mini-game, not a first-person brawl. Tips: Mini-Games. Wins also produce Airplane Tickets for Malia, which the Office productivity / Core route expects in Chapter I.
You can skip the dice room for raw story movement, but you will miss Against All Odds and the ticket errand.
Flower → Wrench → Core Key
The mug you grabbed at the elevator is not the Timesville green mug used with the Camera. Different props.
- Fill the Transparent Mug at the Office water cooler
- Pour it on the plant → collect Flower (Sunflower spawn was unreliable before 1.04 — re-enter the room if the flower is missing)
- Trade the Flower at the train station for the Wrench
- Use the Wrench on the cooler panel → turn water on → Core Key drops
- Smash the glass wall with the Wrench and talk to staff so productivity rises
Full item pages: Flower · Wrench · Core Key. Water from this cooler also counts toward Water Break (tracking fixed in 1.03).
Patch History for This Floor
| Patch | Gambling Den / dice note |
|---|---|
| 1.01 | Rare dice crash still under investigation |
| 1.04 | Dice room temporarily recoded — later rolled back |
| 1.05 | Crash targeted again with original dice code |
| 1.06 | ”I believe I have fixed the dice game crash this time” — use this or newer |
| 1.07 | Walking NPC no longer teleports you to the gambling elevator |
| 1.08 | No new dice rewrite; still the recommended library build |
If dice still crashes on enter after 1.06+, email [email protected] with the save. Andy has replaced files for this room before.
1.06 also fixed bottom-right Office stairs layering — you walk those stairs on the way to this floor.
Stay and the Den
The Office Stay secret is the Telescope Morse chain at the train-station bench, not the dice tables. You can finish Against All Odds on a first file and still do Morse on the Stay reload. Do not confuse Gambling Den progress with the three Stay secrets (Stay Secrets).

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Why don’t I see the Gambling Den elevator? A: Finish all Office phone calls, then request reassessment with the money-focused answers listed above.

Q: Which patch fixed dice crashes? A: Andy iterated 1.01–1.06. Use 1.06+ (current tip 1.08) before long dice sessions.
