Controller & Gamepad

Designed for mouse and keyboard — what gamepads and Deck users can expect on patch 1.08.

Last updated:

Does Endacopia have controller support? Officially the game is a mouse-and-keyboard point-and-click with first-person mouse combat. AndyLand did not ship a first-class DualShock / Xbox layout on day one. Some players bind a pad through Steam Input; results vary, especially in combat and right-click “do what” cycling. This page is the search landing for Endacopia controller, Endacopia gamepad, and Endacopia Xbox controller.

Short Answer

SetupExpectation
Mouse + keyboardIntended experience — hover highlights, right-click action cycle, inventory click-use
Xbox / DualSense via Steam InputPossible for walking and menus; combat aim is still a mouse analogue problem
Steam DeckCompatibility listed unknown — community reports it runs; trackpads help more than a pure gamepad
Native in-game remapNo robust rebind menu in the demo; full game still assumes WASD + mouse

If you only own a controller, try the free demo before buying (Download). Combat (Clocky, optional bosses, Henry) uses mouse X for fist position and click to punch/block. A stick can emulate a mouse, but it is not the same as a designed twin-stick shooter.

Why the Mouse Matters

Endacopia’s overworld is classic point-and-click:

  • Left-click interact / confirm
  • Right-click cycles verbs on the hovered object (“do what”)
  • Inventory is select item, click world

A gamepad without a good gyro or trackpad makes verb cycling and tiny hotspots (Wall Bank, fridge shapes, Office floor buttons) slower. Deck users should prefer trackpads + mouse click, not face-button-only play.

Combat on a Pad

Combat is not WASD. You aim fists by moving the cursor horizontally, left-click attack, right-click block, both spend stamina (Combat). Steam’s mouse joystick or gyro-to-mouse is the usual workaround. If that feels bad in the Clocky hallway, it will feel worse on Trapezist and Henry’s uvula bait.

Steam Input Tips (Community, Not Official)

These are player-side templates, not AndyLand docs:

  1. In Steam, Endacopia → Controller → enable Steam Input
  2. Use a keyboard-and-mouse community layout if one exists for AppID 2684630
  3. Map a shoulder to right-click (action cycle) and a trigger to left-click
  4. Keep a mouse region or gyro for combat rooms
  5. Volume is Shift + + / − and F9 on 1.07+ — map those if you mute yourself (Patch Notes)

Layouts break after patches; re-test on 1.08.

Steam Deck Reality Check

Valve has not marked Endacopia Verified. Expected issues: small click targets, combat mouse, and on-screen keyboard for passwords (Cheshire, 471, YellowPasswords). Docked with a USB mouse is the comfortable Deck mode.

Accessibility-Adjacent Notes

  • No official colour-blind or hold-to-click options documented here
  • One save file — pad users still need Cloud + backups (Save System)
  • Jump-scares are audio + visual; a pad rumble profile will not warn you in time

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Does Endacopia support Xbox controllers natively? A: Not as a first-class in-game scheme. Steam Input can bind a pad; mouse combat remains the hard part.

Q: Can I play Endacopia 100% on a gamepad? A: Some players finish that way. This wiki still recommends mouse and keyboard for puzzles and bosses.

Q: Is there key rebinding? A: No complete official remap UI. Use Steam Input at the client level.
