Flower / Sunflower

The Flower (AndyLand’s patch notes also say Sunflower) is the Office-spoke bloom you grow with the Transparent Mug. It is the middle link in the Chapter I chain Mug → Flower → Wrench → Core Key.

Patch 1.04 restored spawn reliability: “Fixed a bug where the Sunflower never spawns (if your save is still missing the flower, re-enter the room).” If the plant looks watered but nothing is there, leave and come back on 1.04+ (current tip 1.08).

How to Grow It

1. Unlock the Gambling Den via Office phone Credibility + money-focused reassessment (Office Phone Calls)
2. Pick up the Transparent Mug on the floor to the right of the gambling elevator
3. Fill the mug at the Office water cooler (this sip also counts toward Water Break)
4. Pour the water on the Office plant
5. Collect the Flower when it appears

Do not use the Timesville green mug here. That mug is a Camera photo target, restored in 1.08. Two different cups.

Train-Station Trade

Take the Flower back toward the Office train station (the same spoke you used to enter from Green Hills). Trade it for the Wrench. The Wrench then:

• Opens the cooler panel so the Core Key can drop
• Breaks the Office glass wall so you can raise productivity and talk to staff (including Malia / airplane tickets from dice)

If you already used the Wrench and still need a Flower for a screenshot or a confused save, you are past the story need — the chain is one-way.

1.04 Spawn Fix

Before 1.04 some saves watered the plant and never got a bloom. Andy’s instruction is still the right first step:

1. Update Steam to 1.08
2. Re-enter the plant room
3. If it is still missing, re-pour from the Transparent Mug once
4. If the save is ancient and stuck, email [email protected]

1.04 also stopped an early click on a fossil in the Timesville shack — unrelated botanically, same patch day as Cloud saves.

Stay, Combat, and the Flower

The Flower is not a Stay secret. You can grow it on your first Escape file and never touch it again. Stay wants Metal Detector and Telescope. Combat does not use the bloom (Combat).

Beartha’s Black Rose (PGD quest reward) is a different flower. Do not mix them up in inventory notes.

Q: I watered the plant and nothing spawned. A: Update to 1.04+ (use 1.08) and re-enter the room. That is the official Sunflower fix.

Q: Is this the same as Beartha’s Black Rose? A: No. The Office Flower is a Wrench trade. The Black Rose is a Timesville PGD reward.

Q: Do I need the Flower for Against All Odds? A: No. Dice and the Flower chain share the Gambling Den floor but are separate goals.
