The Telescope is a full-game item required for Stay (Ending C)‘s Office secret — the third of three area puzzles alongside Misery Town and Timesville (Stay Secrets). You obtain it through a Timesville side chain involving Catthew, then deploy it at the Office train-station entrance to decode a phone number, Morse message, and hidden VR room.

The telescope does not affect the Toy Saw vs Real Saw split. Once Escape and Return are unlocked, your saw choice no longer matters for Stay — but you still need the telescope placed correctly and the Morse sequence completed on the same run where you fight every optional boss.

How to Obtain the Telescope (Timesville Chain)

The acquisition path runs through Timesville NPC content:

1. Catthew hide-and-seek — Find Catthew during the Timesville exploration sequence
2. Fishing license — Complete the fishing-license requirement tied to Catthew’s quest line
3. Party invitation — Progress the social/event thread until you receive a party invite
4. Owl gift — Attend or complete the party sequence; the owl delivers the Telescope as a gift item

Office Stay Secret — Full Walkthrough

After the telescope is in inventory, head to The Office train-station entrance.

Step 1 — Bench placement

1. Locate the sleeping figure on a bench near the station entrance
2. Open inventory and place the Telescope near the sleeping figure (interaction point varies — use examine/talk cycles per Controls)
3. Look through the telescope at the advertisement behind or near the bench

Step 2 — CALL US! phone number

The ad displays CALL US! with phone number 277-5944. Write it down — you need it on the Office PC.

Step 3 — Jobs app & Morse code

1. Go to your Office PC workstation
2. Open the Jobs app
3. Dial 277-5944 using the in-app phone interface
4. Listen to the audio — it plays Morse code spelling: “Behind the stairs 1 minute”

Step 4 — Stairs wait (~60 seconds)

1. Go downstairs from the Office main floor
2. Stand behind the stairs near the vending machine
3. Wait approximately 60 seconds without leaving the trigger zone
4. A hidden passage or event opens leading to the VR helmet room

Step 5 — VR helmet room

Complete the puzzle sequence inside the VR helmet room. Finishing this marks the Office secret complete for Stay purposes.

Patch Notes — Telescope Baseline Bugs

Early post-launch builds reported telescope baseline alignment issues — the scope view not lining up with the intended target on first placement. Patch Notes document that several telescope bugs self-correct after reloading the area or restarting the game rather than requiring a permanent save wipe.

Patch 1.05 continued stability work alongside in-game +/− volume keys. If the bench ad will not focus:

1. Update to 1.05+
2. Leave the Office and re-enter
3. Re-place the telescope near the sleeping figure
4. Restore from a wandering save if the Jobs app dial fails silently
