Combat & Brawling

First-person fights from Clocky through Henry — how blocking works and how to reach 15 defeats.

Last updated:

Endacopia is a puzzle adventure first, but several gates are fights. The Steam achievement A Natural Brawler (~6.8% at launch) asks you to defeat 15 enemies across one save. This page covers the shared combat language, the Prologue tutorial fight, Chapter I brawls, optional bosses, and the Ending A Henry arena.

Inputs live on Controls. Mini-game scoring (soccer, dice, fishing) is on Mini-Games. Boss skip routes are on Optional Bosses.

The Shared Language

Most first-person brawls use the same verbs:

InputRole
M2Block — then move the mouse to match the incoming angle
M1Counter / punch when the enemy commits (lean, wind-up, or telegraph)
WASDReposition; some arenas punish standing still
EscClose menus — never open inventory mid-telegraph if you can avoid it

Death usually restarts only the current fight. Exploration progress stays. Still save at wandering points before optional bosses (Save System).

Patch notes that matter for fighters:

  • 1.02 — crashes when finishing enemies at 0 HP; inventory during room transitions
  • 1.04 — you can no longer walk out of the gunslinger room mid-fight (that was an exploit)
  • 1.05 — inventory-open softlock while summoning a boss; Mellow kept walking if you held move keys during summon
  • 1.08Genesis 01 + Skateboard button mash; Misery Town clown-chase inventory softlocks

Play combat-heavy files on 1.08+.

Clocky — The Tutorial Brawl

Clocky lives in the Prologue Hallway. Six block/counter rounds. Watch the lean, block the swing, punch on the commit. This is your first of the 15 Brawler kills and the gate to the bathroom / Plunger sequence.

If you are demo-only, Clocky is the entire combat course. The full game repeats the same timing against later creatures.

Chapter I Fights

Chapter I adds:

  • Gunslinger — do not try to leave the room during the fight (1.04 closed that exit). Treat it as a locked arena until the duel ends.
  • Optional bosses you can meet early: Trapezist in the Circus, later Chameleon and AI
  • Ambient / chase creatures in Circus tents and Misery Town clown rooms

Chase rooms are not always scored as “fair fights.” 1.08 specifically fixed inventory softlocks while walking up to the Misery Town crowd, the clown dinger button, and the clown chaser room. Open the bag before you start those walks, not during the approach.

Optional Bosses — Fight vs Avoid

Each optional boss has a fight achievement and an avoid achievement. They are mutually exclusive per file.

BossFightAvoidStay file
TrapezistFatal PerformanceCut The Act (Scalpel, left rope)Must fight
ChameleonNo Strings AttachedCase Closed (grave quiz)Must fight
AISystem OverrideShort Circuit (water on outlet)Must fight

Full skip text: Optional Bosses. First 100% route: fight all three on run 1, skip all three on run 2, fight all three again on the Stay reload.

Henry — Ending A Only

Giving Roger the Toy Saw leads to the mouth-arena fight. You bait the uvula; punching Henry’s body is the wrong target. Dedicated steps: Henry Boss. Code 471 opens the Saw Box (Saws).

Return (Real Saw) does not use this arena. Stay ignores the saw once A and B are already unlocked.

A Natural Brawler — 15 Defeats

Community tracking counts Clocky + optional bosses + gunslinger + repeatable / tent enemies toward the 15. If you skip every optional boss and avoid extra Circus fights, you can finish the story under 15.

Practical farm:

  1. Defeat Clocky (1)
  2. Fight Trapezist, Chameleon, and AI (3)
  3. Finish the gunslinger instead of looking for an exit
  4. Clear extra Circus / Misery Town hostiles until the counter pops

Do this on a file you already plan to fight bosses on — it pairs with Escape + Fatal Performance / No Strings Attached / System Override.

Title-screen achievement sync in 1.07+ re-grants ending trophies; Brawler is a live counter, so you still need the kills on that save.

Skateboard and Odd Telegraphs

The Skateboard is movement, not a weapon, but 1.08 records Genesis 01 panicking if you equip it while mashing a button. Unequip before talking to Genesis 01 or leaning on world buttons. Same patch fixed pencil + Scribbly texture glitches if you leave the room mid-use.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Does dying wipe my Chapter I progress? A: No. The current fight restarts. Save anyway before optional bosses and Henry.

Q: Can I get A Natural Brawler by skipping bosses? A: Unlikely. You need 15 defeats — skip routes starve the counter. Fight the optionals on a dedicated file.

Q: Why can’t I leave the gunslinger room? A: Patch 1.04 blocked walking out mid-fight. Finish the duel.
